1d.   Present research/professional speciality

My current employment with Lincoln University involves academic leadership in teaching and research in toxicology including food and environmental toxicology, food safety and security, animal health and animal physiology. Teaching includes a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses including toxicology, advanced toxicology, food contaminants and safety, animal physiology, animal health, and a module on acid-base balance in farm animals in environmental physiology. In the past 6 years, I have conducted twelve, 1 and 2-day short courses in food toxicology, food safety and security and applied environmental toxicology overseas. I have /had research collaborations with University of Lille (France), Oregon State University (USA), University of Santiago Compostella (Spain), Silpakorn University (Thailand), Guangdong Ocean University [Zhanjiang], Huazhong Agriculture University, Wuhan & Jinan University, Guangzhou (China), University of Madras (India), and Peradeniya University and Rajarate University (Sri Lanka). My research theme (as evidenced in my publications) has centered around food toxicology, food safety and security, developing biomarkers / biosensors for environmental contaminants, and heavy metal metabolism in a variety of animal species.
