Dr.
Toida has published over 180 research papers (including 10 papers published in
Japanese); been awarded 15 patents; and has presented over 100 seminars and 22
books both in a 34 year research career that has earned international
recognition. Dr. Toida’s research is focusing on the study of bioactive
carbohydrates based on analytical approach such as NMR, MALDI-TOFMS, ESI-MS,
SPR, UPLC and CE. His major research
projects involve NMR spectroscopic study of the complex polysaccharides,
glycosaminoglycans including chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate, hyaluronan,
heparan sulfate and heparin. Recently, Dr. Toida’s research group is also
working on protection and pre-diagnosis of infarction/stroke caused by acrolein
produced from polyamines in vivo.
